Apple Store down globally; Nehalem Xserve introduced (updated)

Yes, the Apple Store is down around the world, a good indicator that Apple’s adding some new merch — perhaps in the form of a 2TB Time Capsule or ION-based Mac mini? Check back in a few hours — the Store usually lights up at 8:30 a.m. EST, says eagle-eyed Thomas Ricker at Engadget.

UPDATE 9:28 EST: Say hello to Apple’s new Xserve, with either quad-core or 8-core Intel Nehalem goodness.
