New iPods not eligible for 'back to school' discount
If you managed to notice the announcement of a certain new device yesterday, and caught the student discount on said device announced awhile back, you might be thinking, “Discounted new iPod, here I come!”
Well, hold on to your horses, cowboy. Apple’s new iPods are not eligible for the promotion.
If you recall, the promotion in question allowed a student, teacher or staff member to get a free iPod touch or iPod nano if you buy a Mac on education discount between June 3 and September 15, 2008.
With the Steve Jobs’ announcement yesterday of a refreshed line of iPods, many intrepid consumers are thinking, “September 15? That gives me six days to get my hands on a shiny new iPod on discount! Thanks, College U!”
Unfortunately, Apple will not be honoring new iPods in this deal despite similar pricing, reports one clever fellow who called the retail store himself.
Back to the ranch, cowboy.
(In the meantime, take a look at images of Apple’s iPod over the years.)
