Aliph’s Jawbone headset is widely considered the sexiest and best-performing Bluetooth headset on the market. Yesteday the company revealed its Jawbone Prime, a new version that replaces the eleven-month-old Jawbone 2 with the intention of improving comfort, control and quality.

The Prime looks much like its predecessor, and its $130 price tag is no surprise, either. But slighlty new curvature “makes it a bit easier for your finger to find the button you use for functions such as turning the headset on and off,” says Harry McCracken at Technologizer, who got a first crack at a test unit.

The Jawbone Prime comes with an earloop and six rubber earbuds in three different sizes for sizing, but the real point of note is sound quality. Aliph claims the new headset has better quality than the previous one, and it carries “NoiseAssassin” noise reduction and a Voice Activity Sensor that’s specifically geared toward wind interference.

This is also the first Jawbone that supports multipoint Bluetooth, allowing the user to use it with two phones at once.

Finally, Aliph’s gone candy-colored for this generation of the Jawbone, and bolstered the usual silver, gold and black offerings with lime green (pictured above), reddish-pink, mandarin orange and purple.

The new Jawbone will ship on May 2.
