Too cheap for an iPod touch? Try the Memorex TouchMP

If you’ve been thinking of getting an iPod touch, but just can’t handle forking over the $229 for an 8GB player, Memorex’s TouchMP might be the solution you’ve been waiting for. For under $100, the 8GB TouchMP is a basic MP3 player, and no, it doesn’t offer the wireless connection that the iPod touch does. But, it does have a fancy touchscreen, so if that’s your thing, you’ll probably like the TouchMP.

The TouchMP has a 2.8-inch, 320 x 240 QVGA color display with an intuitive user interface. The player can hold up to 2,000 songs, and has a digital FM radio.

CNET gave the TouchMP a pretty good review; here’s what they said:

“The TouchMP is the best MP3 player we’ve seen out of Memorex, and it strikes a good balance of price, design, and features. That said, unless you’re drawn to the novelty of its touch-screen interface, there are better values to be had for less than $100.”

So, if you’re set on having an MP3 player with a touchscreen, the TouchMP may be the recession-friendly way to go. If you’re open to having a personal music player that doesn’t feature a touchscreen, there are other options for under $100 that may suit your fancy.

I'm interested in buying this, and I have a MacBook. Does the included software also work on a Mac or is it just vista/xp?
I don't want to spend the money and be "shot down".... (Read the rest)
