Sony announced a new line of DSLRs yesterday. The alpha models are said to be an easy transition for those who are unfamiliar with this type of camera, and who are used to regular digital point-and-shoots. The DSLR-A380 ($850), A330 ($650), and A230 ($550) may look similar to other DSLRs, but there are a few unique features to these cameras.

The consumer-oriented cameras are smaller, lighter, have a simpler interface, and now accept SDHC and Memory Stick Pro cards. According to Sony, the 10.2-megapixel A230 is the lightest, most compact alpha DSLR camera body ever at 15.9 ounces. Also, the 10.2-megapixel A330 and the 14.2-megapixel A380 cameras are smaller and lighter than their predecessors, the DSLR-A300 and DSLR-A350, respectively.

All of the cameras have built-in image stabilization, and a HDMI port to display your photos on your HDTV. They all have a 2.7-inch LCD Live View screen, which you can use auto focus with while in Live View with the A330 and A380.

Sony is also releasing some new accessories, such as new telephoto, zoom, and portrait lenses, and a cheaper flash.

Pre-orders are now available at www.sonystyle.com/retail and at selected retailers nationwide. The cameras and accessories will be available in July at Sony Style stores, and at select retailers.
