HP debuts Compaq 515, 610 budget full-size business laptops; $429

HP on Tuesday announced the Compaq 515 and 610 budget business laptops for mobile professionals, further blurring the lines between the “netbook” segment and the full-featured “notebook” segment.

The Compaq 515 is 14.1-inch laptop with an AMD Athlon X2 or Turion X2 CPU, ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics, up to 3GB of DDR2 RAM and an up to 250GB of HDD storage.

Meanwhile, the 15.6-inch Compaq 610 offers a choice of Intel Core 2 Duo or Celeron dual-core CPU, Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics, up to 3GB of DDR2 RAM and an up to 250GB HDD storage.

Both models offer DVD read/write drivers, LED backlit displays, Wi-Fi and Ethernet LAN, three USB ports, ExpressCard and secure digital card slots and VGA output.

The Compaqw 515 starts at $429, while the Compaq 610 starts at $449.

Inexpensive Netbooks with SSD are good Stay-at-Home VOIP servers.
The netbook serves as the perfect dedicated in-the-corner server for the Magicjack. If one wants a home phone, but also wants to be able to take their laptop with them, the netbook lets the home phone stay at home. The laptop and the netbook are not competitors - they serve different audiences.... (Read the rest)
