Thinner, lighter, cheaper: Will Dell's Adamo out-air the Macbook Air?
New York Times Bits blogger Ashlee Vance noted today that a recent dig through Dell’s trademarks revealed the names “Adamo” and “Adamo by Dell,” which cover computer hardware, including possibly desktops and laptops.
Not to mention an ominous placeholder website for the product-to-be:

According to luxury goods site UptownLife.net, “you betcha.” (Update: UptownLife has removed the reference to Adamo on its site.) And according to Vance, who confronted Michael Tatelman, Dell’s vice president in charge of consumer sales and marketing, about whether or not Dell had an Air-like product in the pipeline:
“Mr. Tatelman’s mouth gaped open and his eyes darted away from my face,” Vance writes.
Is Dell going thinner, lighter and cheaper than Apple?
Dell wouldn’t comment, and of course, I’ve got nothing to add to this firsthand report from Vance except suspicion. But as the old saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words,” and in this case, it may be Tatelman’s shocked face.
