Sony announces new PS3 Slim and $299 price tag
Today at the Gamescom convention, Sony announced its new PS3 Slim along with the good news of a price cut. The PS3 Slim will be 36 percent lighter and 33 percent smaller than the previous PS3 model. It also will come with a 120 GB hard drive.
The PS3 Slim will sell for $299, which is half the price of what the PS3 originally debuted at in 2006. Normal PS3s will also drop to the $299 price as of tomorrow. The question is, why anyone would choose to buy the older version for the same price?
The PS3 Slim will hit stores Sept. 1 in the U.S. and Europe, and Sept. 3 in Japan, but you can pre-order the unit now at Amazon or K-Mart.
