Dell reveals Adamo XPS thin-and-light laptop; 0.39" thick

Dell on Wednesday unveiled a teaser for a new Adamo thin-and-light laptop model: the Adamo XPS.

And it looks a lot more like a MacBook Air than the original Adamo.

Have a look for yourself:

And, in case you were wondering, 9.99 millimeters is 0.3933 inches thick.

(Apple’s MacBook Air measures 17.4mm, or 0.76 inches, at its thickest point.)

Given the XPS designation — usually reserved for Dell’s faster, better computers — here’s hoping the thing comes with more than a 1.4GHz processor. And a less-than-ridiculous price tag.

But hey, Windows 7, right?

UPDATE: Notebooks.com got a no-pictures peek at the notebook, which they confirm is a “working prototype” and “concept.” It indeed has a true flip-away keyboard (it’s not a tablet.) They write that it “couldn’t have been more than two pounds” in weight.

They also raise two very valid points: heat and battery life must be awfully difficult in such a small device, one they say is only a little bit thicker than a MacBook Pro’s display.

Dell Adamo XPS: Pushing the envelope, or pushing itself off a cliff?
