VIA on Wednesday unveiled its new “NetNote” category of systems today, which supposedly manage notebook-like power from a netbook price tag and footprint.

Based on VIA’s Surfboard platform, the NetNote devices are sized from 10.2 in. to 12.1 in., and support 1080p HD video playback.

Inside, you’ll find a VIA VX855 media system processor with a choice of VIA C7-M ULV or VIA Nano processors. The turnkey systems support hardware acceleration for H.264, MPEG-2/4, VC-1 and WMV9, sport an optional HDMI port and a choice of integrated 3G connectivity.

They also include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS and VIA Vinyl 8-channel HD audio.

The new systems have initially been made available to members of the VIA Global Mobility Bazaar (GMB) Program in China, and the first NetNote products are expected to be introduced into the market later this month, the company says.
