What do you want to see in Apple's new iMac; MacBook?

It’s no surprise that rumors are picking up about a pending refresh of Apple’s standard MacBook laptop, which has been sporting the same shell for several years, as well as an overhaul of the iMac desktop lineup.

Save for a minor component update, the basic MacBook was left out of recent updates to the MacBook Pro lineup.

As for the iMac, AppleInsider reports that the lineup will receive a design overhaul (”thinner” and “industrial” are the terms floating around), as well as a boost of features, rumored to relate to multimedia (”Blu-ray” and “audio” are also floating around).

In a down economy, though, focus on Apple’s entry-level computers is never more fervent than now — especially as the holiday season nears.

And the changes have wide implications, since these are the models most broadly adopted by businesses, educational and public institutions, and home users.

Personally, I’d like to see a slight reduction of the lowest price points on both devices and, in the case of the MacBook, a system that looks like it belongs with the rest of Apple’s laptops.

But I’m not so sure about the value of Blu-ray at this point.

What would you like to see in Apple’s new iMac? MacBook?
