Pure Digital upgrades Flip MinoHD camcorder; new design, 2X recording time
Cisco’s Pure Digital on Wednesday announced the next generation of its Flip MinoHD, which sports a new design, double the memory and a larger screen.
That memory upgrade, now 8GB, allows for two hours of recording time, twice that of the first generation MinoHD. The device now has a two-inch anti-glare screen (960×240; output 1280×720), “more responsive” buttons — now seamless with the back panel — enhanced audio and an HDMI output.

The changes bring the MinoHD much closer in specification to its cousin the UltraHD, which I reviewed on May 12. The MinoHD now sports the same size screen and memory capacity as its bulkier brother, foreshadowing a nearing upgrade for that device.
The device retains its built-in omnidirectional microphone and speaker, 2x digital zoom and built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery.
The software on the device also gets a refresh, now supporting instant upload to Facebook, in addition to YouTube and MySpace. The company says it’s improved usability, organization and controls for the software.
Available in a brushed silver finish or a “personalized” design, the new Flip MinoHD will retail for $229, and the current generation will drop in price to $199. (The standard definition Flip Mino will sell for $149.)
