Lenovo all-in-one ThinkCentre PC aims for business; starts $499
Lenovo on Monday introduced its first ThinkCentre all-in-one desktop PC made for business, packing Intel Core 2 Duo processors, Windows 7 and a $499 price tag.
Like most all-in-ones, space is the name of the game. Lenovo says the ThinkCentre A70z saves 70 percent more space, consumes less power and uses less cables to ge the job done. That’s great for the education, finance and healthcare industries who have more pressing things that need that space.
The ThinkCentre A70z consists of a 19-inch, 16:10 widescreen LCD monitor set in a 2.4-inch black frame that can be mounted flush against a wall, supported with a radial stand or rested against a leg stand like a picture frame. (There’s a built-in handle on the back for transport.)
Inside is the following:
- Choices of Intel Core 2 Duo and Celeron Dual Core processors
- Up to 500GB of data storage
- DVD burner, six USB ports, two audio speakers and optional Wi-Fi
- Optional high-resolution webcam and built-in Skype application for VoIP
- Direct X10 support
Lenovo says the system will boot as quickly as 35 seconds and shut down 28 percent faster. The system’s also got a Power Manager TVT application for remote deploying of power schemes and global settings.
In terms of design, it’s all business, of course: straight lines, dark panels and industrial simplicity rule the style roost.
The commercial all-in-one PC segment is projected to grow 16 percent year-over-year worldwide in 2010, according to IDC figures. Most of that market is small and medium business, including the small office/home office (SOHO) market.
The ThinkCentre A70z all-in-one will be available at the end of November starting at $499.
(Lenovo also introduced its ThinkCentre A58e tower desktop, a Windows 7 value system powered by an Intel Pentium dual-core CPU that’s available now and starting at $349.)
