Verizon to offer Sony Vaio P series ultraportable for $300 with contract

Sony’s chic Vaio P is a tiny notebook with a massive price tag, but the wide, ultraportable system may come to Verizon carrying a $300 price tag and a big string attached — in the form of a two-year contract.
The Vaio P appeared on Verizon’s site with a Windows 7 Home Premium configuration that offers 2GB of memory and 160GB of storage. It doesn’t appear that a configuration with a solid-state drive will be available — surely to keep costs down, since that sweet form factor engineering usually runs for $999 and up.
I’ve previously asked ZDNet readers if they would buy a netbook on contract if the price was right. The answer? Generally no.
Does a system that usually sells with a four-digit price tag sweeten the deal enough to make you bite?
