Matrox debuts world's first single-slot octal graphics card; supports 8 displays
Specialized graphics manufacturer Matrox Graphics introduced on Monday a graphics card that’s capable of simultaneously supporting eight displays.
The Matrox M9188 PCIe x16 Octal graphics card can support eight DisplayPort or DVI Single-Link outputs from a single workstation. The card offers 2GB of memory, resolutions of up to 2560×1600 per output and several modes — independent or stretched desktop modes — for use in energy, transportation, process control, financial, and other mission-critical industries.
Or, you know, your basement, if you’re into that kind of thing.
The card can be combined with a second M9188 to drive up to 16 displays from a single workstation.
The M9188 offers support for Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, XP and Server 2003/2008, as well as Linux.
Specs for the M9188, according to the company:

- Drive eight DisplayPort monitors at 2560×1600 per display or DVI Single-Link monitors at 1920×1200 per display
- Can be combined with other M-Series products (multi-card support)

Matrox M9128 and M9188 Availability and Pricing
The card will be available before 2009 comes to a close and will sell for $1,995.
Matrox is also selling the M9128 LP PCIe x16, which supports two displays and sells for $259.
