National Wind, the wind development company focused on encouraging local investment and ownership for its wind projects, has completed its purchase of investment banker Delphi Financial.
Given how quickly National Wind is signing new projects, the company figured it made sense to acquire its own renewable energy financing specialist and Delphi Financial fit that description. The firm, which is based in Minneapolis, is already involved in the intrastate public offering for a wind development project that is being held by High Country Energy, a wind development company in Minnesota that is managed by National Wind.
Delphi will be able to take on projects for other clients as appropriate. The arrangement will be similar to how National Wind handled its purchase of a wind assessments consulting firm last fall. That division, now called National Wind Assessments, handles leasing and construction of meteorological towers, wind data collection, turbine layout and so forth. However, it is not restricted to working just with National Wind projects.
