Your flight has been delayed...
perhaps because protestors at Heathrow are out to stop the airport’s planned expansion. British police say they’re ready to deal with nationwide protests against what is seen as weak British government action to curtail greenhouse gases emission. The left-wing Guardian newspaper talks of anger at plans for a fourth major Heathrow runway. It is London’s largest of four airports already.
Meanwhile Rupert Murdoch’s paper finds the protest to be a business story. That’s because some protestors have threatened to block runways. Now that wouldn’t sit well with Rupert or any of his high-powered friends. They have important business to attend to and flights to make.
Why Heathrow? Because jet planes are sadly near the top in creating greenhouse gas emissions. If you take global warming seriously, there’s no guilt-free flying.
