Carbonetworks intros new portal software for emissions info management
Earlier this month I wrote about the need for companies to get a handle on the impact of their carbon footprint and about the fact that IT departments are getting new options for doing this on a regular basis.
Now, one of the better-known players in this category, Carbonetworks, has flipped the switch on a new online portal service where its enterprise clients can start exposing the information they are gathering to the outside world. Basically, it will allow companies that are doing good things to get props for things that are going well. The service is included in the subscription for its main Carbonetworks Platform, and pulls information directly from the Emissions Management Platform. You can read some background about the company and its products in this post I wrote about a year ago.
The portals are hosted by Carbonetworks and they build off its existing products, which include CNX Professional or the main CNX Footprint service. The thing that is unique about this offering is that it’s intended to let businesses who are using Carbonetworks information gathering and emissions management tools publish information about how they are managing and reducing carbon and greenhouse emissions, and other environmental initiatives. This information could be published internally (so that employees, for example, can see how their company is doing) or externally to showcase success stories that can help prop up a company’s brand equity in the green/environmental space.
