Luddites, science and global warming

There’s opposition to an oceanic experiment about to take place in the south Atlantic. I blogged about the geoengineering research being done by a German and Indian research team. They’re going to dump 20 tons of iron sulphate into one area of ocean and see what happens.
Nature.com takes at look at those who propose and those who oppose. The researchers claim their work is justified and could help combat climate change if the “ironing” of the ocean can get it to absorb more CO2, a greenhouse gas. Opponents says such large scale meddling with the ocean violate international treaties and endangers the earth’s natural balance. Science or status quo?
