What's red, white and blue, and green all over?

It could be the Obama Administration. I can forgive ALL the media observers for their self-congratulatory rhetoric about how this could only happen in America. They happen to be historically right. Not even the Roman Empire was as racially inclusive as these United States. Can you imagine one of Russia’s millions of East Asians being Premiere? One of the many ethnic Turks as Chancellor of Germany or a South Asian as Prime Minister of Britain?

That aside I was looking for those glimmers of green. Here’s what I heard. Obama called on the U.S. to change the ways we use to energy so we don’t sap our own strength and give our money to our enemies. That’s shorthand for Bin Laden getting cash from our Saudi “allies.”

He specifically mentioned rebuilding our electricity grids and expanding our digital networks. The modern version of what the government had to do to get electricity to rural America two generations ago.

And for those invested or interested in alternative energy: “harness the power of the sun, the wind and the soil.” Solar power. Wnd power. Biofuel.

Obama’s other relevant comment to those who’ll attack and try to stall his plans: it’s not whether government is too big or too small, but whether it works. I watched the nominee for Energy Secretary as he nervously walked into the VIP seating. He should be both excited and challenged. Obama has promised a full menu of change.
