Two of President Obama’s top environmental appointees are having their approval by the Senate put on hold. The nominations for head of the EPA and chairwoman of White House Council on Environmental Quality are on hold. The author of the hold? Anonymous senator.

The wannabe head of the EPA has already said she would approve California, New York and other states’ rasiing of fuel efficiency standards for cars sold in those states. The Bush EPA had quashed the states attempt to regulate car mileage standards. California has already petitioned the EPA nominee for approval of the state’s law now held in abeyance. It’s not known if this is why the two nominations are being held up. Nor when the approval votes might happen.
