Not only green, efficient, but now cheaper

LEDs are the new plastic, the new black, the new new thing. Harvard has done research that will provide a much cheaper way to make the Gallium Nitride components that make LEDs what they are. I live out here in the boondocks and I’m already seeing LEDs with standard screw-iun bases on the end aisle displays at the town hardware.
They can now grow the necessary crystals on silicon wafers. Further for those of us in northern lattitudes, there’s work being done to get LEDs to mimic sunlight to keep us from getting so xdepressed during dark winters. That’s really good news for Sarah Palinland.

My apologies folks, I don't know what I was thinking. Compact florescent lights and LED's can't be legally disposed of in regular landfills; they must be placed in hazardous waste disposal facilities. At a much higher cost. ... (Read the rest)
