Further details on the spending bill to be signed into law by President Obama.
There are $6.9 billion for general mass transit, another eight billion for high speed rail and 1.3 billion for low-speed rail (that would be Amtrak). Could the U.S. be reversing its aversion to rail travel? We are so very far behind the high speed rail systems in Europe, Japan and China.
Car buyers in 2009 don’t have to buy hybrids or even fuel efficient cars. New car buyers making less than $125,000 per capita get to deduct all sales tax. The law includes those buying RVs and motorcycles.
NASA gets $400 million to do climate change research.
