Bullet train plans still off target in US

It’s been forty years since Japan built the first bullet train line. Other high-speed rail service is found in several European countries and elsewhere. But not in the U.S. The $8 billion of stimulus money earmarked for rail transit is not enough for a single bullet train line. And yet all that cash gets divided into 11 regions. Thus the U.S. will continue to be a rail laggard among “wealthy” nations.
