Pimp your ride with a new fuel efficiency meter
First in-car breathalyzers, now fuel efficiency meters.
A Dallas-based start-up called Fuel Efficiency Centers is selling a gadget called the Fuel Efficiency Adviser, which it claims can help drivers save gas costs and reduce their carbon footprint contribution. The device, which retails for $159.95, tracks the impact to mileage and fuel consumed when you step on the accelerator or brake. By seeing where they’re burning fuel most efficiently, drivers can adjust their driving behavior.
You install the Adviser by plugging it into an OBD2 receptacle, which means you shouldn’t have to hire a mechanic to install it AND you can move it from vehicle to vehicle. Trip computer information is stored for up to a day, so you can keep tabs on other drivers in your household that may have a bit of a lead foot.
