Oklahoma! Where the wind comes sweeping down the plains.
Sorry, couldn’t resist a tip to some of the best lyrics ever written for the stage. Until now, I hadn’t really considered that Oklahoma was probably a great candidate for wind technology projects, mainly because I haven’t really thought about it. But it certainly makes sense that this would be so. Just ask Dell, which has decided to power its 240,000-square-foot campus in Oklahoma entirely with wind energy from Oklahoma Gas and Electric.
With this latest move, Dell says it now sources approximately 35 percent of its U.S. energy consumption from green or renewable energy sources. That’s about 20 percent of its worldwide usage.
Dell also is pledging a further reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, aiming for 40 percent by 2015. Here’s more info on its overall corporate initiatives.
