It’s been over a year since I blogged about the formaldehyde/plywood problems. Now the Environmental Protection Agency is looking into possibly regulating the use and off-gassing levels of formaldehyde which has a few nasty tendencies when inhaled by mammals. Maybe we simply start with labelling of any product that off-gases the sickly smelling compound.

One of the minor tragedies attached to the mega-tragedy that was Hurricane Katrina was FEMA putting thousands of homeless and helpless folks into formaldehyde-rich environments. All the better to preserve them, I presume.

We could all use a little info on where this stuff shows up. That new computer desk, or book shelves, or kitchen cabinets…

Why is this happening now? Duh, it could possibly be the political shift in Washington is having a difference.
