Tech recycling opp for Boston-area dwellers

That’s because NextPhase, the asset disposition division of distribution company Converge, is planning a “Take Back” event for Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the company’s headquarters in Peabody, Mass.
Usually, NextPhase focuses on work with corporate clients. (It handled about 35 million pounds of gear last year through recycling and refurbishment/redeployment.) Its Boston-area recycling drive, in conjunction with M&K Recovery Group, will accommodate both individuals and small businesses and is intended to raise public awareness about technology disposal issues.
NextPhase will be collecting the following items: desktop PCs and laptops, printers, monitors, televisions, stereos, PDAs, keyboards (mice and power cords) and game consoles. Each person is limited to five items per tech category and only one television AND the recycling drive won’t be taking big stuff like refrigerators, microwaves or stoves. (Those bringing in a computer will get a certificate of destruction to cover themselves in terms of privacy/identity theft.) NextPhase says the event is open to residents of Peabody and surrounding North Shore communities.
