Ricoh contributes work around cartridge recycling to Eco-Patent organization

Printer and office systems giant Ricoh is among the latest high-tech vendors to offer up an environmentally friendly patent to the Eco-Patent Commons, which will work to make it available to the public domain.

Ricoh is contributing its work related to the recycling of removable imaging cartridges that are used in copy machines, printers and fax machines. The technology helps track a cartridge’s useful lifespan.

Here’s the list of patents that have been contributed so far by Eco-Patent’s nine member organizations.
