Community solar adoption project expands into Los Angeles
Residential solar tech advocacy group One Block off the Grid (1BOG) is pushing south out of the San Francisco Bay area into Los Angeles. The group, which helps aggregate the interest of solar consumers in various communities, is hoping to push its concept nationwide throughout the course of this year. It has allied with SunRun, which is a solar service company that will install equipment on your house and sell the power back to you, and REC Solar, a solar installer in Los Angeles, for this latest phase of its strategy.
Under the partnership, 1BOG members will be able to invest in REC Solar installations for as little as $1,000 down. (Compared with the typical upfront investment of $15,000 without the sorts of financing options available through the 1BOG initiative.)
1BOG is run by Virgance, which uses social media technology to help support various “Activism 2.0″ projects.
