Will high sticker prices make electric cars a luxury item?

How much will the federal tax credits help sell electric cars? Tax credits can be as high as $7500. Here’s a sample calculation.

Electric cars will face stiff competition from sub-compacts in urban markets. And the variable of gasoline and alternative fuel prices will clearly help drive or stiffle the sale of electric cars.
