I’m a big fan of solar energy. But…not so pleased with melanoma. I’ve had my warning from a doctor to keep my sun-caused skin growths to a minimum. It’s that time of year. Many of us are outside a lot in hot weather. And it does matter to you and the environment what sun block you choose.

The best sunblock info on the web is from Environmental Working Group. Here’s their list of the best ones. Preferred active ingredients: zinc or titanium.

No surpise: the top three U.S. sunscreen makers–based on sales–market products with significant health concerns or lacking in effective skin protection from UVA. Ever notice how heavy marketing tends ot have an inverse relation to quality of product?

So far the FDA has refused to set any standards for content toxicity or effectiveness for sunscreen.
