Google is searching for more than websites. They’re searching for the holy grail of energy as well. Financially competitive alternative energy. Now their energy chief claims they are close.

Here’s the original interview with Google’s energy guy. He told Reuters the federal government should step up its research and development spending if alternative energy is to go mainstream. The Obama Administration and current Congress have increased national spending plans over what was done during the previous regime in Washington.

Google’s renewable energy sources include: wind, solar and geothermal. Here’s homepage for Google’s clean energy chief, Bill Weihl.

Google is bucking the establishment as the power of traditional fossil fuels remains immense.
