Slowly the depth, or rather height, of the American coal ash problem is leaking out of the political closet. Now one U.S. Senator says she is barred from talking about specific coal ash heap problems because they are a severe security risk. One well-placed bomb…and then disaster.
So now she’s passed the ash heap prob on to the EPA. Asking them to release a list. Gotta believe the heap neighbors must already know they’re living beneath a potential ash flow, right?
There was a coal ash flood in Tennessee late last year. Bloviation followed, but not much real action. The various states still have jurisdiction which in most cases means nothing is being done. The heaps are still heaped, waiting for somebody’s next move.
TVA owned the heap that flowed over homes in Tennessee, and now they’re getting ready to Haul ash to a landfill in nearby Alabama.
