Two words: unintended consquences. Here’s a summary of report warning that geo-engineering carries unmeasured risk. Sorta like playing the stock market, huh?
But there’s potential profit of billions in geo-engineering if global warming gets severe enough, so don’t rule it out. People still buy plenty of cigarettes and consume tons of unhealthy junk food, so why not a little geo-engineering of the ocean or atmosphere?

Fair Enough
We don't know what is going to happen in 10, 20, 50 years. We also
don't really know how much of it would have happened regardless of
humanity's contribution to climate change.
