U.K. security firm slashes power consumption with Faronics Power Save
Utility software company Faronics has published a new corporate case study detailing how U.K. security and alarm company ADT is using its Power Save power management software across 2,700 desktops and notebook computers. Using investment is helping ADT save roughly 36,200 kilowatt hours per month in power, according to Faronics. No details on what percentage of the company’s overall consumption that number represents.

Key factors were cross-OS support for Windows and Macintosh, an audit mode that lets IT managers collect statistics, a less disruptive approach to controlling power consumption, and the ability to set intelligent parameters that dictate how power usage is controller.
