Updated software provides additional data center insight
The team at nlyte Software (formerly known as Global DataCenter Management) must have despaired of me writing about them months ago. But I noticed the company has a new version of its software shipping, which I wanted to note for readers of this blog.
First some background. nlyte develops what it calls Data Center Infrastructure Management software. A member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star program, the company provides an enterprise application that lets companies track the physical assets in their data center (including the power distribution technology).
But it doesn’t just monitor what’s going on, nlyte CTO and cofounder Rob Neave says the software models future scenarios and makes recommendations about ongoing strategy.
nlyte was founded back in 2003 by several data center professionals, who had real-world experience in the field. The new edition, called nlyte 5.1, adds support for additional power infrastructure technology, including multi-phased power management and power strip; it provides multi-dimensional cabinet/rack capabilities; accommodates better raised floor management modeling; and enables forecasting for future space and power capacity requirements.
Neave says the software is licensed according to a number of variables, including usage and the number of racks it is being used to monitor.
The new version of the software is available immediately.
