Attention to those of you outside the United States, or businesses with locations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Hewlett-Packard has introduced the HP Long Life Battery for commercial notebooks in those theaters.

The batteries, which are based on Sonata Lithium-ion battery cell technology from Boston-Power, are designed to be charged more than 1,000 times without the capacity really degrading. That’s about three times what a typical battery can handle. The battery can be charged up to full capacity in about 90 minutes, which is nice for two reasons: First, you don’t have to suck power off the outlet for as long, and Second, if you’re like me and often forget to plug your computer in overnight, you MIGHT get a decent charge if you remember when you wake up.

The HP Long Life Battery supports the following HP notebook models: HP EliteBook 6930p and HP Compaq, 6730b, 6530b and 6735b. The company will extend compatibility in the future.

For those of you who have been following HP-related battery developments, the Sonata-powered products were previously sold under the “Enviro” brand name.
