One climate modeller predicts a cooling trend, shortly
One climate modeller who’s been involved in the IPCC climate conferences and report-writing says he expects short term, natural phenomena to reverse warming trend for awhile. This will be sweet music to those opposing political action on global warming. Upsetting to those who see science indicating long-term warming that’s not reversible without human intervention. Even if the temps cool down, the debate will heat up.
The same site that published the original statements from the climate expert, also published this piece pointing out that short-term cooling does NOT disprove global warming.
The warming is to be the result of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO). This scientist says the NAO is now moving into a cooling phase. Here is a website that traces the study of the NAO and its variability.
This prediction of short-term cooling is in direct contradiction of a recent study showing that human activity is more than trumping the natural climate variations that could produce cooling. And surviving grandkids will look back and know the truth.
