Soak the rich? Ban the Beamer?
Pity the poor Porsche driver who looks forward to a new model every 150K miles. The next new Porsche may really cost him. That’s because the new EPA fuel efficiency standards could levy serious fines for non-compliance cars, not the tiny parking ticket-sized fines of the past. That cost, of course, would not be borne by Porsche but by the car buyer. Nobody has suggested banning the cars altogether…yet.
It’s mainly the high-end German makes that are likely to face the fines.
