Climate change denial: only in America? Then, there's global cooling...

Climate change denial is as global as global warming. Even in obscure corners of the world the political battle is being fought.

From the British Broadcasting Company to American mass media, the new theme is…global cooling in our short term future.

Here’s a link to the BBC story that has global warming deniers crowing with glee.

One problem even I see with the BBC story: we all know that 1998 was the hottest year ever and hasn’t been equaled. But the story does not reveal that most of the next ten hottest years on record have happened in the past twenty. 2009 will be another among the ten hottest years since we started measuring. Still, when the BBC doubts, will others follow?

Washington politics
Meanwhile in Washington D.C. today there came more evidence that the Bush Administration was a leading denier of action while in power. A memo from an EPA staffer on greenhouse gases, an email recommending regulation of such emissions, was simply rejected and NEVER OPENED.

Here’s an online copy of the EPA document dated 2007 that proposed action on six greenhouse gases in the U.S. The six gases: carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6).
