The paper chase: Intralinks calculator tracks paper saved, emissions diverted
Intuitively speaking, your team KNOWS that it could probably save a lot of money AND get greener by converting some information-sharing processes that have traditionally been paper-based (think initial public offering prospectus or mega legal documents) into a digital variant.
IntraLinks, which has been looking for ways of quantifying the economic and environmental benefits of this conversion, has created a very simple Green IT Calculator that shows you very quickly how much energy can be saved or emissions diverted by using its “on-demand critical information exchanges.” Here’s the link.
So far, in aggregate, the company has helped save north of 3 million pages of information, or about 382 trees, according to Intralinks CTO John Landy. (The calculator will handle metric conversions, too, if you select that option.)
