Toronto-based ZeroFootprint has developed a “smart plug” product called TalkingPlug that will let home owners (or anyone else for that matter) track the electricity usage of appliances, gadgets and anything else plugged into the wall socket. Because it is programmable, the gadget also lets you control these appliances, shutting them down, for example, if they are sucking too much power for your own good. Here’s more information from our sister blog site, Smart Planet.
