Take a lead from Yahoo! Focus less on buying carbon credits and more on reducing your carbon emissions

Internet giant Yahoo!, which obviously relies quite heavily on its data centers for its livelihood, has taken a very bold step: it has said it will stop buying carbon credits to offset the greenhouse gas emissions produced by its data centers.
Instead, it will focus on initiatives such as 100 percent air-side cooling, better power distribution technology that sees about 90 percent of the incoming energy go to the servers, and using hydroelectric power. The PUE for the facility will be about 1.1.
