Good news everyone (or for iPhone owners at least). Apple has released software update 2.2 for the iPhone.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Performance and stability improvements for SafariĀ
  • Google Maps now have Street View, show walking/public transport directions, and allow an address of a pin to be displayed
  • Fewer dropped calls
  • Email fetching bug fix
  • Wide-format HTML email support
  • Download podcasts over WiFi
  • Keyboard auto-correct can now be turned off

Things that are still MIA:

  • Cut and paste
  • MMS
  • Flash support
  • Voice dialing
  • Turn-by-turn GPS

Jailbreakers might want to hold out from installing this update.

Update 2.2 is also available for iPod touch users.
