Viewsonic announces new 22-inch 1080p HDTV for $349
Even though most viewers would have a hard time differentiating between 720p and 1080p on a 42-inch HDTV, that hasn’t stopped TV makers from sprinkling the magic 1080p spec on smaller-size sets. Case in point: Viewsonic has just released a new 22-inch 1080p set (the VT2230) that’s designed as a secondary set, though I’m not sure your Blu-ray movies will truly stand out on such a tiny TV.
Specs are otherwise fairly standard: built-in HD TV tuner, 5ms response time, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 8,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, blah blah. One bummer is that you’re only given a single HDMI input, so if you want to connect more than one HD source you’ll have to use the component-video port. But in its favor, the VT2230 is being listed at $349, which is a decent price for an auxiliary set. Still, will you really be able to notice a marked difference between a 1080p 22-inch HDTV and a 720p one? If you think you can, let us know in the TalkBack section.
