Can you go without gadgets for a week?
Teenagers in Los Angeles in the US have been taking part in an experiment to find how how they would cope without their electronic gadgets for a week. The 15 and 16-year-olds gave up their mobile phones, mp3 players, TV, radio and other electronic luxuries, and discovered that it was like to trying to kick an addiction.
The fact of the matter is that because our lives have become so closely entwined with technology and gadgetry, if “the world code” was ever entered and we were sent back to the Dark Ages, we wouldn’t have the necessary skills to survive.
There would be no more food production, electricity, gas or water supply through our taps and pipes. We wouldn’t know how to forage for food, with what is safe to eat and what isn’t. Very few have the earth knowledge to survive without the technology that surrounds us in our cocoon-like lives.
Yet another tech-post turned philosophical.
