Regardless of what you think of Rev. Jerry Falwell, who died today:

He was one of the leaders in making his sermons from the Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Va., available via broadband Internet, as well as downloadable Podcasts via the iTunes store.

As with other clergy, used modern technology to spread what many regard as the ancient, everlasting word. The significance is that by making his sermons available to shut-ins as well as those who live afar from Lynchburg, Rev. Falwell enokited broadband and probably nurtured its acceptance and sign-up as well.

Just goes to show how vital this medium is… and how net neutrality needs to be protected to ensure that all voices, opinions and beliefs are able to ride the broadband wave without prioritization.
