Distribution of ultra-high speed signals over a building’s electrical wiring has its fans. Powerline distribution is valued by the multiple dwelling unit (MDU) real-estate sector for its managerial efficiency. There’s no reason why powerline solutions are not ideal for the enteprise as well.

At the Consumer Electronics Show, the new Corinex AV Powerline Ethernet adapter from VoIP and networking company Corinex Communications is being shown. This adapter can support multiple high quality video signals with classification systems such as 802.1P tags, IPv4 or IPv6 TOS coding, as well as TCP source/destination ports.

The thruput is up to 200Mbps. That rate is well within the comfort zone for supporting multiple high quality video signals while delivering high-speed Internet access at the same time.

Corinex says the product is set to go into testing by unspecified but "leading operators in North America and Europe." The Corinex AV Powerline Ethernet Adapter will be supplemented by Corinex-branded routers, gateways and repeaters now in development.
