With regard to iPhones listed for bid or sale on eBay, a curious dynamic seems to be emerging.

I’d call it “hey look at me” marketing. In these cases, that would mean posting ludicrous “Buy It Now” prices to get to the head of the listing line and thus, draw attention.

Like here (assuming offer page is still live when you read this post and click on the link I just made):

Obviously no one in his or her right mind would pay $21 million friggin’ dollars for an iPhone. In fact, raven_8991 cops to it when he writes on the offer page that:

Notice to all those haters BEFORE you start sending hate mail: I am not actually expecting to make 21 million on this iPhone (although I wouldn’t turn it down… ;-), I am expecting to sell this iPhone via the Make Offer system. Make me an offer and I’ll consider it!

Guess I got to trade in the yacht, the mansion in the Hamptons, etc, etc.

Then again, maybe not. Free shipping!!

I hope the get stuck with 20-30% losses
Another blog reports that every store they contacted still had some in stock, so they will have to end up selling at a loss. Hmmm, go to the store and buy a known perfect copy or save 20% and risk buying it on eBay.
